Shelby Brandes

Commits to Oklahoma Baptist University

Shelby Brandes, who plays OF for the Texas Fusion Gold, has verbally committed to play softball for Coach Pam Fink at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Shelby joined the 16U team in the spring of 2009, helping our team qualify for 16U Nationals last summer.  Shelby batted clean-up and played right field for the majority of the summer.  What's most amazing about Shelby is her pure athletic ability.  She has only been playing competitive softball for about 10 months, and is still learning the game.  But her natural abilities have allowed her to make a smooth transition from the hardwood to the ballfield.  Before making the move to softball, Shelby excelled in basketball, which is evident in the fact that she is still being recruited by some collegiate basketball programs.

Shelby has chosen to pursue a career in softball, and I am very proud of her accomplishments in such a short amount of time.  I feel very confident that she will have a successful career at the next level.  Congratulations to Shelby, John, Linda, and Shane.
